The performance of the RDS used in the system is declining and the client wants to migrate to Aurora or Aurora Serverless v2 at a low monthly cost. Since there is no engineer available to handle the database migration, the client asked us to conduct a database performance study and develop a migration plan on a spot basis.

- Mission -

To study the database performance required by the system, adopt Aurora/Aurora Serverless v2 with less than 1.5x increase in monthly fees, and develop a work schedule for the migration date.

- Project Summary -

The query status, HW performance, and monthly usage fees for the approximately 30 databases running in the system were surveyed. For the databases that exceeded the target monthly usage, we proposed to the client to migrate to Aurora and Aurora Serverless v2. We also scheduled a planned system shutdown and migration process to migrate to Aurora and significantly improve the performance of the RDS. The client was able to effectively use the serverless database and significantly reduce fixed database costs.
